Lara De Luca Truppo, C-IAYT, E-RYT 500
Certified Yoga Therapist and Registered Yoga Teacher
Lara began practicing yoga in 2007 as a form of mental, spiritual and physical therapy. Experiencing the benefits of this ancient practice first-hand, she firmly believes in the body’s innate capability to heal itself regardless of age or injury.
After years of teaching Ashtanga and Vinyasa Yoga in a studio setting, she went on to pursue graduate education and certification in Yoga Therapy, an evidence-based modality adapting yoga as a therapeutic tool to develop self awareness, improve overall well-being, and inhibit the onset of chronic disease. Lara specializes in the reduction of chronic pain and inflammatory conditions, personality and mood disorders, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and women’s health.
As a Yoga Therapist, Lara is trained to assess her clients using a protocol based on the understanding that human beings are made of five living domains: physical, psychological, cognitive, social, and spiritual. When one of these domains malfunctions, all of the others are affected, creating a unique experience of pain.
With this assessment, she develops a customized session using breathing techniques, restorative poses, mindful/somatic yoga movements, meditation and imagery to assist her clients in achieving their goals. It is common for her to use props (i.e., blocks, bolsters, straps, chairs and walls) for alignment and the restoration of the natural flow of our breath.
Lara holds a Master of Science in Yoga Therapy from Maryland University of Integrative Health and a Bachelor’s Degree in Management of Human Resources from Bellevue University. She is certified by the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) and is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 500) via Yoga Alliance.
